  1. Preheat the oven to 180oC (350oF).
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; stir in the dates and orange juice.
  3. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form; add the sugar gradually while continuing to beat; add the vanilla.
  4. Using a rubber spatula, fold the egg whites into the batter.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into a nonstick square 2 l (9x9x2 inch) baking pan.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes or until done. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan; cool before cutting into bars.
